This project was brought in to me by a young bride wishing to wear a family heirloom as her “something old”, and thankfully in plenty of time as it had seen better days! The seed pearls ranged in size from 1mm upwards which had to be threaded onto a mother of pearl frame, but unfortunately even the finest of thread and most flexible of needles was too big to go through the minute holes. Problem!! After a few sleepless nights wondering how to solve this problem, it came to me. Fishing line!!! I popped around the corner where we have a fishing tackle shop and purchased the finest clear line they had, and it turned out to be perfect. It was fine enough to go through the holes, but firm enough to not buckle when being threaded through. She wore it on her wedding day, was overjoyed and looked stunning, of course!!
