A lovely young lady came in to the shop with her grandpa’s wedding ring held tightly in her hand, she wanted to make something from it that she could wear all the time as he had sadly passed recently. She hardly ever wore jewellery so was unsure of what she wanted, but she knew it had to be discreet and understated. We came up with a few ideas and she loved the idea of a couple of different sized discs as a necklace, but really wanted it to have a “nuggety” look! She liked the thought of the gold showing texture and looking natural, so I worked with the ring to make two “nuggets” of different sizes then joined them so they can be worn on a chain. She loved the final result, and can now carry a little bit of her grandpa with her wherever she goes.
To Treasure on the Wrist!!
Remember that pile of scrap gold?? All the broken chains, single earrings and worn out rings were transformed into this beautiful solid bangle with the rescued opal and tiny diamond accent taking pride of place front and centre! A very satisfying job to complete, and one very happy customer with something she will wear and treasure! Do you have broken bits and bobs sitting doing nothing? Maybe you could plan your own “upcycle”???
Scrap in the Attic???
A customer brought in all her old, broken and unwanted gold to have something made that she would wear and love. Lots of broken chains, single earrings, rings that have been worn out and with stones missing was transformed into a lovely solid bangle with an opal and tiny diamond that could be salvaged from the rings. This is the before, wait for the after!!
Whimsical Wonder!
This fabulous ring was designed and made by hand in our workshop from a customers old engagement, eternity and wedding rings! She was tired of the traditional solitaire diamond ring and the way that whenever she looked it was twisted round and under her finger, she also decided that she would like some rose gold along with white gold to complement her other jewellery that she wears. Most of all, what she had was not really her style, she wanted something “whimsical”! I came up with the designs for her to choose between and once everything was settled on we made her whimsical dream come true! The finished ring is impressive yet dainty, very attractive and totally unique! Do you have some old jewellery you don’t like or wear? Why not change it in to something you love?!?
Super Sapphire!
Fresh out of the workshop! This gorgeous handmade ring features a stunning blue sapphire that weighs in at over 1ct and is surrounded by over 3/4ct of beautiful marquise shaped diamonds clustered around the central stone and down the shoulders, but not in the boring old way! As usual I have not been able to capture the best of these beautiful gemstones in my picture, but any of you lovely people who would like a look will be knocked out by the real life sparkle! It’s so “hot off the press” I haven’t even priced it up yet, who fancies a one of a kind stunner??
Widow’s Ring
A widow came to us and asked for her husband’s wedding ring to be made in to something that she can wear all the time, to keep him close always. We used his wedding band and combined it with hers, added some black diamonds to the white ones she had in her band and set them alternating and flush to the ring so that it will be easy and comfortable to wear. She loved the simplicity of design and felt that it allows her to carry him forward with her. Such a simple and heartfelt way of expressing her feelings of love and loss, while at the same time celebrating their life together and remembering happy times.
And There’s More!!
As I said, I’ve got carried away and bought some absolute stunners to get creative with! I tried to take a good picture, but this is the best I could manage, suffice to say they are just awesome in real life!! Pictured from left to right is a lush green Spodumene weighing in at a whopping 22.3ct! This beautiful gemstone is flawless and such a beautiful colour, unfortunately I seem to have got fingerprints all over it!! 😉 The other green gemstone is a 1.75ct green tourmaline in a rectangular “step cut”, a very sophisticated gemstone indeed! The pair of stunners at the front are tanzanite, 1.63ct of AAAA tanzanite to be exact! And last but definitely not least is the huge 29.4ct cushion cut Kunzite, such a beautifully delicate shade of pink with the tiniest hint of purple, just dreamy!!
Opulent Opal!!
I’ve only gone and done it again!! I have bought some gorgeous loose gemstones to get creative and make some more stock up for the shop! This picture is of a stunning 2.25ct natural opal that displays a glorious show of colours, from blue and green, yellow and orange and flashes of red. It’s just like watching electricity, what a beaut!! Now, what to make??? 😉
Adoring Amethyst
This beautiful delicate pendant was made for a lovely lady in memorial to her beloved dog who she had recently lost, she wanted a heart shaped stone for obvious reasons, and amethyst had to feature heavily as it was his birthstone. We came up with a design to add some twinkle of diamond to the piece, and I’m happy to say she was overjoyed with the result! So much so that she decided to have some earrings made to make up a set to wear always to remember him by. Watch this space!
Eternal Heirloom!
This gorgeous full eternity ring came to me in a pretty poor way, it was missing nearly all the stones and had snapped through one of the settings because someone had stepped on it! The owner was planning on giving it to her daughter to celebrate a special birthday, so they came in together and we worked out what would look good and work well for her. After a little (ok, quite a lot!) of TLC it is back to it’s former glory with a new lease of life, set with alternating diamonds and emeralds all the way round, with safe and repaired settings and a lovely polish to complete the refurbishment! You wouldn’t know it was the same piece 😉
