I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling thoroughly ready for some warmer days, birds beginning to sing and nature bursting forth! With Mother’s Day just around the corner I have made sure to stock lots of lovely gifts for the Mum in your life, let’s face it, they deserve everything we can give! But it’s important to remember that the thing every Mum wants more than anything is the biggest hug!!
Chilly and Bright!
We hope you are enjoying these sunny and crisp days? If the brittle blue skies and frosty mornings are not your favourite, wrap up warm and hold on tight because it will be spring before you know it! In the meantime, we are open for business and will always offer a warm welcome at Jackey L!! x
Annual Holidays
We hope you have a wonderful Christmas and take the opportunity to wish you all a very Happy New Year! We will be closed between Christmas and New Year for our annual holiday, and will reopen on January 3rd, thank you x
Listen! Can you hear??
Sleighbells ring…. it’s about that time of year again! It feels like no sooner do we start the year, we’re at the end of the year again, or is that just me?? It’s been another year with challenges, one of which I can hear as I type. The High Street may be closed and dug up to have electricity cables replaced, but all of us businesses are open for trade as usual! Please shop local when you can and support your local community where possible, I know the giants might be able to shave a few pence off our prices, but we are the businesses that donate to the school fair raffles and all the local flower show prizes etc!! We truly do appreciate all your support, and we try very hard to offer the best products at realistic prices. In the end though, don’t struggle to buy something extravagant, give something heartfelt and genuine and it will be appreciated every bit as much! Merry Christmas to you all, and may the New Year bring happiness and health to you and those you love. J x
Autumnal Amber
As Autumn has arrived with the slow turning of leaves to beautiful shades of yellow, orange and red, it always reminds me of the gorgeous and varied tones of our local “gemstone” Amber. Amber is fossilised resin, and aged between 30 to 50 million years old! Within amber you can see a captured moment from pre-history, and sometimes it even contains creatures that were trapped in the sticky resin and died, and are now preserved forever. We have an extensive range of amber set in silver, with something to hopefully fit all budgets. Please pop in and see us, everyone is always welcome even just to browse!
Bespoke Creation!
This chunky necklace was created for a lovely customer who had been given a Tiffany silver presentation plaque engraved with thanks and gratitude for her service and care to their company. Sadly, she had no idea what to do with the piece, should she stick it on a box? Put it in a frame? Or, should we make it into a chunky necklace that she can wear and really get enjoyment from?? Guess what, the necklace is what she chose! The writing can still be clearly seen, as can the Tiffany hallmark, which gives it a really interesting and quirky look. She tells me she regularly has people trying to read her necklace while in conversation with her! Have you got something that you would like re modelled? Bring it along and we can discuss options.
Coiled For Spring!
With the end of February looming we are anticipating welcoming the warmer weather (hopefully!) and very much looking forward to seeing signs of spring bursting forth. We are also able to welcome you to the shop without the Covid restrictions, although we will continue to have hand sanitiser available and retain the Perspex shield for both our and our customer’s safety. If you prefer to wear a mask please feel free, some of us will be joining you! We welcome you as always for all your jewellery needs including repairs, stringing, watch batteries and straps amongst other things!
Love Stacks Up!
These beautiful stacking rings were made from old and damaged but sentimental jewellery, using the customer’s precious pieces to create something new and exciting that will become the new heirloom! Three individual rings, all with a different look that slot perfectly together as one, what would you create? Do you have something discarded and sad in a box? Give it a new lease of life, and let it be enjoyed again by another generation!
Twinkle Twinkle Little Present!
Tis the season to be sparkly, fa la la la la, la la la la! Lots of lovely gifts are in shop to suit every budget and guaranteed to please, just pop in and we will help you select the perfect present and wrap it free of charge! Merry Christmas Shopping x
Ruby Red & Diamond Bright!
This lovely piece is fresh out of the workshop, made with a customer’s old rings that were missing stones or damaged…or both! The design uses all of the remaining gemstones and combines all the gold from several rings to create a really chunky band that is set with different shapes of diamond and ruby so it is interesting yet discreet. If you have old or broken jewellery languishing unloved in a draw, why not create something to wear and enjoy? We’ll happily come up with the design or you can design your own piece, then we’ll create something that will be treasured and enjoyed for years to come!
Dreamy Amethyst!
It’s been really busy in the workshop lately, and one of the most unusual pieces to be produced is this stunner of an amethyst dress ring! The lovely customer bought a really unusual costume ring abroad and loved it so much she almost wore it out, so she decided to have it made in platinum with a stunning deep rich amethyst. It’s difficult to photograph the unusual shape that flares towards the stone, but the customer was delighted with the finished product and she is ready to wear it, and wear it, and wear it………
Beading Lovely!
Did you know that we carry out our own stringing service in house? If you have some beads in a drawer waiting to see daylight again, why not bring them in and we will give them a new lease of life for you?!? We don’t just only string the finest pearls on silk, we also have cord and wire and even elastic for any bead combination. If you love them, wear them, we can help! 🙂
Week One…And Counting!
We have completed our first week back at the shop after lockdown, and while it has been a bit of a whirlwind trying to get “our heads back in the game” it has been so great to see so many of our lovely customers venturing out to come and see us for whatever reason! We can’t thank you enough for your kind words of support, and your patience with us while we are still a bit rusty!! We are still carrying out all the Covid precautions as per Government guidelines, and we hope you all feel safe and confident when in the shop. Please let us know if there is anything more we can do to help, and be aware that I have decided to continue to collect and deliver to shielding or vulnerable customers locally, so please just ask if you are not able to get to the shop?
And….Go!!
I’m so happy to be able to open the doors again tomorrow for everyone, we will be opening for our normal hours of 9am – 5pm. If you need a present, a repair or just a watch battery, we will be delighted to welcome you back! We’re looking forward to seeing you, and getting back to normal!
Ready…Steady…
Hopefully it will be “all systems go!” on 12th April for our re opening! We are preparing for your return by adding lots of lovely new stock for spring, and giving everything a spring clean in preparation for welcoming you all back. Until then I am still here, I check the phone daily and will return your call if you have any queries. If you need a battery change in a watch please put it in a padded envelope with all your details on, and pop it through the letterbox at the shop (be aware it’s tiny, so nothing big please!) I will get it done and arrange for it’s return. If you see something you like please get in touch, and don’t forget I can also deliver your purchase to you or send to the recipient directly? Just ask, I’m here and happy to help!! Stay safe, Jackey x
Mum’s The Word!
With Mother’s Day this Sunday I just wanted to remind you that I’m still here, and if you want something special to let her know how much you love and value her, I’ll be happy to help! I have pendants, earrings, bracelets and rings of all designs and budgets, so please take a look in the window or on the website and take your pick. I will happily box and wrap your choice and get it to you (or her!!) in time for Mothering Sunday. Let’s help spread the love, and however you do it (with a gift or not) let your Mum know you love her!!
A Little News….
Today’s announcement about the phased exit from lockdown gives us a date of 12th April for the earliest reopening of non essential shops like ours. Obviously, the most important thing is that the current downward trajectory of the virus is maintained and the amazing work of our NHS to roll out the vaccine continues. In the meantime please don’t forget that I am still here on site for changing batteries and repairs, just put your item in a padded envelope with all your details on and instructions inside, drop it through my letterbox at the shop and I will get it done and back to you! I check the phone daily, so please leave me a message and I’ll return your call as soon as I can, and please remember me if you need a gift for someone as I still have all the usual lovelies to tempt you!!
Spread A Little Love!
I’m still here to change watch batteries/straps and do repairs, and of course for your Valentines gifts 😉 Please don’t forget your friendly local jeweller! If you can pop your item for attention in a protective envelope and put it through the letterbox at the shop (be aware it’s small!) with all your details, I will get it done and arrange to drop it back to you. If you see something you like on the website for Valentines Day please either order through the site or message me, I offer a local delivery service too, and can even wrap it ready to brighten up your loved one’s day!
New Year News!
Happy New Year to all our lovely customers, and sincere thanks for all your support throughout the very difficult year that was 2020! We enter the New Year with hope and optimism for better things to come, and although we have entered another national lockdown, I would like to reassure you that I am still here on site ready and able to do all the usual jobs! If you would like a battery fitted, a strap adjusted or fitted, a repair done, or you spot something in the window or on the website that you’d like, please just get in touch and I’ll be happy to help? I will be checking the shop daily, so you can leave a message on the answer machine, or email/message me via social media and I will get back to you. I genuinely wish everyone a safe, happy and healthy New Year! Jackey x

2) I live here at the shop, so I will be able to do batteries and lots of repairs in house, so please put your item in a padded envelope with all your details on and I will do it and deliver it back to your door!!
3) I will be taking pictures and featuring pieces from the shop daily, if you see something you like please get in touch either by leaving a message on the post, the answerphone or messenger to reserve it, get in early as I don’t hold multiples of anything!

Please stay safe everyone, look out for each other and stay positive. We’ll see you on the other side……..again! Love Jackey x
October Opals!
October’s birthstone is one of my favourites, Opal! Every single opal is uniquely different, with the best specimens showing flashes of colour and vibrancy including all the colours of the rainbow! We have several loose opals at the moment, including the three in the picture, I just have to decide what to make with them! The crystal opal in the front of the picture is a particularly lovely one (even though as per usual I am finding it impossible to capture the mesmerising colour displayed by this gorgeous gem in a picture) not only does it have the usual colour flashes of yellow, orange and green, but it also displays lots of red flashes and a stunning blue that looks like lightening running through! The other two are equally unusual, because they are both fire opal which is usually a lovely flat transparent orange colour, but these two are an orange body colour that also shows really vibrant flashes of green, yellow and orange (the pear shaped one even flashes blue too!) As you can probably tell, I get quite excited about unique rare and beautiful gemstones like these, they’re not something you see every day and I can’t wait to get started on designs!
Shhh….Don’t Mention Christmas!
Things have been strange this year (to say the least!) and several customers have asked if we do payment plans to spread the cost of Christmas, we are always keen to see if we can help so here goes!
- Come in and reserve all your gifts for as little as £5 deposit, pay off your choices and collect any time before the big day.
- Interest free payment scheme to help spread the cost.
- Free wrapping and local delivery service (I shouldn’t tempt fate, but just in case something happens again at least we will get your gifts to you wrapped and ready to go!)
- Nationwide Postal Delivery service available.
- If you see something you like, don’t miss out! Reserve it! 😉
September Sapphire!
I know we’re nearly at the end of September but I wanted to share something I’ve been working on! Did you know we can arrange to have jewellery on approval?? A lovely young man wants to pop the question with sapphire and we didn’t have quite what he wanted in stock, so I have been getting some stunners in to show him including the ones in this picture. I am always happy to get a selection on approval with no pressure, and if what you want just doesn’t exist we can make you a bespoke and truly unique piece that’s sure to get the happy tears flowing!! Don’t forget us when you want something special, we may not be the biggest but I guarantee you that we will try incredibly hard to please you, because it actually means something special to us to have happy customers!
Adorable Amber!
Yay, it’s that time of year again when I get to choose beautiful things to fill the shop!! I have enjoyed picking out some lovely amber, and I’ve tried to get a mix of dramatic and wowzer pieces along with dainty understated pieces, hopefully there will be something to please everyone! Amber is such a beautiful gemstone (not a stone at all in fact, it’s fossilised resin between 20 to 50 million years old) and every piece is a truly unique window back in time. In some pieces you can find insects trapped millions of years ago, but incredibly they are perfectly preserved as if alive yesterday! I have necklaces, rings, bracelets and earrings of all descriptions currently being stocked, so if you would like an amber “fix” come on in!!
Big Bold Beauty!
Behold another unique piece from the workshop! We used the customer’s emeralds to made up a really chunky gold ring to match another sapphire set ring she constantly wears on the other hand, and really loves. We took care to match the raised settings and edges, and added in a little twist by frosting the finish of the recessed gold to make the contrast of polished gold stand out! Happily the customer loves her new ring, this heavy and bold ring is something she can wear every day and enjoy for many years to come!
New Stock!
I shall be doing a new window display this weekend in order to display the new stock just in, we’re in love!! So pretty, this sterling silver Tree of Life is a 3D beauty! It is accented with rose gold and sparking gorgeousness, with an unusual split and flared outer circular mount that gives it such a classy and different look! Also available are the matching earrings with rose gold accented branches and little silver leaves, dainty and a perfect compliment to the necklace. It’s a hard job, but someone has to do it! 😉
Pretty Peridot!
This ring fresh from the workshop, is made from gold and gemstones brought in by the customer to re imagine! The principal stone is a beautiful big peridot, but the old ring did nothing for the gorgeous vibrant grassy green stone so something was designed that does! This setting is a much more simple design that the old ring was, with a diamond to accent and add a touch of sparkle in a modern and unique design. She loves it, and now has a new piece to wear and enjoy rather than having something sitting in a box for ages!
Bittersweet Pendant
This initial pendant was made in the workshop using the customer’s and his late wife’s wedding rings and a few other items of her jewellery. We made two pendants, using both gold and white gold, with their initials together in a solid and chunky design chosen by the husband. A lovely way to keep her in his heart and she with him always.
Workshop News!
I am happy to report that we are open for what is now our fourth week and so far so good!! We are working hard to implement all the social distancing measures, encourage the sanitising and keeping things as clean as a whistle for your safety! The workshop is in full production mode, and pictured is one of the rings to have been completed for a customer. She had several rings that she could no longer wear, sadly it happens to us all, as you age the knuckles get bigger and the fleshy part of the finger gets smaller. This means the ring has to be big enough to get over the knuckle, but when it is over it’s too big for the finger and is always spinning around! We used her gold and all the assorted stones from her rings to make a single ring that is big enough to go on, but if it spins it doesn’t matter because the stones are randomly scattered in no particular pattern, so whatever way you look at it is the right way!! Happily, she’s now happy!! 🙂
Getting Back to New Normal!
We have been re opened for a week and we are starting to get into a rhythm again! It was a little difficult implementing the new system that has been put in place to safeguard both ours and your safety, but everyone has been very understanding and patient while we have been getting back up to speed! I can’t pretend it has been easy, it’s amazing how quickly you forget to do the simplest of things that are automatic in normal situations, but this is the “new normal”! I have been very grateful to both Carol and Annie who work for me, they have got back into the job with gusto and welcomed back our lovely customers to whom I am also incredibly grateful, you have stuck by us in extremely challenging circumstances and we will try our best as always to cater to all your jewellery related needs. Speaking of jewellery, the lovely ring in the picture is from our workshop, this beautiful platinum handmade ring has as it’s centrepiece a stunning crystal opal that displays gorgeous colour flashes as it moves (very difficult to show it in a photo sadly!) surrounded by dazzling diamonds, just heaven! Welcome back everyone, we’ve missed you!! x
We’re Open!!!
I’m delighted to say we have re opened 🙂 There are a few changes to let you know about, for your safety and ours. Firstly we have changed the opening hours to 9am – 3.30pm Monday to Saturday. We are running a “one out, one in” policy, so please wait outside if someone is being served, we will be as efficient as possible and try not to keep you waiting! Shopping by appointment, I understand that not everyone needs just a watch battery and jewellery is a considered purchase where you need to take your time and enjoy the experience without distraction! With this in mind, if you would like to book an appointment when you (and one other) can have the shop to yourself, please call 01728602116. I will be reserving from 3.30pm to 4.30pm Monday to Saturday for private appointments, which MUST be pre booked, please call and leave a message if it is out of hours. With regard to hygiene and safety, we would ask our customers to use the hand sanitiser provided before entering the shop, we have a screen at the till point and have masks and gloves to wear if you would like us to, and I would like to assure you all that we are taking every precaution possible to be able to protect you in these difficult and often challenging times. Hopefully in the not too distant future we will have worked out the kinks, and will be able to offer you a good and enjoyable shopping experience! If you see anything that you think could be done better differently, we are open to suggestions! I hope to see as many of you as possible in the coming weeks and months, and sincerely thank you for your continued support and for bearing with me while we work out this “new normal”!! Jackey x
We’ll Be Back!
Following the latest government announcement, we have been informed that all non essential shops will be allowed to reopen as of 15th June, barring any further changes. I hope you agree with me that jewellery is anything but “non essential” 😉 With this in mind we are gearing up to welcome you all back again as before lockdown, for all your silver, gold, diamonds and gemstone needs as well as all kinds of repairs including jewellery and watches and even bespoke creations! We will obviously have to change a few things to accommodate social distancing, so we will have a “one in-one out” policy running that I sincerely hope does not inconvenience any of our lovely customers, and trust you will understand why it is necessary. I don’t know about you, but I have laid down a few pounds of “lockdown lard” in these weeks we have been closed, but that doesn’t matter because no matter what you weigh your earrings will always fit!! Jackey x
Tick Tok, It’s What O’clock??
Just in case you hadn’t seen it in my other posts, yes I am still changing watch batteries during lockdown! If you have a watch that has stopped and needs a battery, please just put it securely protected in an envelope with your name and contact details on, and I will change the battery and arrange to get it back to you. I can also still supply you with anything that I have in the shop, so if you need a present or something special I am only a phone call or message away!! I check the phone, email and messenger service every day for messages, so you can get in touch even though the shop door is closed at the moment. If I can be of any help, I will happily do so! Please call 01728602116 or email jackey@btconnect.com or send me a message via Facebook, I’ll get back to you as quickly as I can!
As Proud As Punch!
I am so very proud to say that I was asked by the Suffolk Horse Society to design and make a range of jewellery for them to sell to raise funds to continue the good works carried out to help promote and save this critically endangered heavy horse breed. The Suffolk Punch horse is an enigma, such a strong and powerful animal, yet with such gentleness and patience, you can’t help but fall in love with them!! I should know, I used to look after and show Suffolk’s for a living before I became a jeweller (in another lifetime many moons ago!!) and I have a home bred Suffolk filly who I adore! The design shows a harnessed and braided Punch with the motto and the Society’s initials, I have in the range a tie pin, brooch, and cuff links on chain or swivel fittings, and I have made them chunky and solid just like the horses themselves! Everything is limited edition (I have 100 pieces i.e. if I sell only cuff links there will be 50 pairs!) and they are made to order with delivery taking approximately 2-3 weeks, they are available directly from me either by placing an order on my website or by phoning the shop on 01728602116. ALL profits from the sale of these items will be donated to the Suffolk Horse Society expressly to help with breeding grants to stallion and mare owners who dedicate themselves to saving this wonderful rare breed so very close to my heart!
Staying Safe
I hope that everyone is keeping well and staying safe during these unprecedented times. I don’t really know what to put in this post if I’m honest. I guess I just want to thank all those working on behalf of all of us, all the absolute heroes of the NHS, everyone working in all the care professions and all those staffing the shops able to remain open, not to mention all the farmers and their staff who work tirelessly to provide food for the table! Today marks two weeks of being closed, and I am sure we will be closed for a good while longer sadly. I am so grateful and blessed to have my lovely little shop, I have truly cherished members of staff who I count myself lucky to work with, and loyal valued customers that have supported me over the years and become friends along the way. Reading this back to myself it strikes me as a little sombre!! I don’t feel that way. While this is scary and very nerve wracking, I am positive that when we all come out the other side of this we will be stronger both as individuals and as a community. That’s my prayer anyway! Stay safe everyone, and watch out for more updates and products that I will be uploading soon!! Jackey x
Closure :-(
I have taken the difficult decision to close the shop until further notice because of the COVID19 virus. The health and wellbeing of my lovely customers and wonderful staff is the most important thing at the moment, and hopefully if everyone pulls together and follows the government guidelines correctly we will bring about a return to normality all the sooner. I would like to thank everyone for your understanding at what is a sad time, but please rest assured that I will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so. In the meantime, I will be checking messages daily so if you have a repair with us or any queries please do leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible. I am also happy to change batteries if you put the watch in a protective envelope with your name and telephone number on it and drop it through the letterbox, and I can drop them back to you if you are in Saxmundham and the surrounding villages by arrangement. Also, if you need a gift or something special please leave me a message and I will call and we can arrange something! I hope to see you all very soon when all this madness is over, look after yourself and others, love Jackey x
An Announcement from Womble
Not to make light of the current situation, but it’s driving Womble to drink! In these uncertain and challenging times, we would like to assure our lovely customers that we are doing everything possible to ensure everybody’s safety and health. We have hand sanitiser available in the shop, the handles, surfaces and card machine are cleaned regularly and we wash hands after each interaction. None of us know what lies ahead, but until we are told otherwise we shall be open as normal for all your jewellery requirements, the workshop will remain open to deal with repairs and bespoke orders, and you can still get your watch batteries fitted as normal! Stay safe everyone, and look after each other.
Just Her Cup of Tea!
Don’t forget it’s Mothering Sunday on 22nd March, give her a call, send her a card, let her know she’s loved! We have lots of lovely gifts to show you care, pretty silver pendants, bracelets, rings and earrings staring from a few pounds that will do the deed without breaking the bank! Pictured here are a few of the tempting choices available, all with a touch of gold to add some zing to Spring!
Love Imprinted Forever
Tragically last year a lovely lady lost her beloved husband to the wickedness that is cancer. She had decided that she wanted something with his fingerprint on it to wear always, and eventually decided on a bracelet. We had to make something robust that would stand the test of time, yet not make the bracelet itself look masculine despite this robustness. Her biggest worry though was that the fingerprint was actually his, as she had heard that some online companies say that is what you are getting when it is just any random fingerprint. With our “Keepsake” range were able to guarantee everything and put her mind at rest, and it was wrapped for her to open on Christmas Day. Not a dry eye in the house!!
Message From an Angel
This is a silver keyring with a difference! You may have noticed that before Christmas I had posted some information on a new range we have started supplying called The Keepsake Collection? This collection allows you to capture a baby’s footprint, a son’s fingerprint, a dogs pawprint, a daughter’s first doodle, to be able to write a note to someone special, and to have them all immortalised on a piece of jewellery. Or on this occasion, a keyring! This particular one I gave to my Mum for Christmas, I managed to secretly get a scan of my Dad’s signature from an old passport which went on one side, and I had found some of his writing from which we were able to make up the sentence “I love you” for the other side. Have you got something you want to immortalise? We can help!
The Star is The Sapphire!
These are the earrings that we made in our workshop to match the beautiful pendant that was featured in an earlier post, and I have even managed to capture the amazing six rayed star that is displayed in both the earrings and pendant that makes these sapphires so unusual and special! If you were thinking you liked the look of them, the set has been snapped up so they are not available anymore, but please get in touch if you would like something equally unique and special and we will see what we can do to help!
And The Winner Is……
The winner of our Valentine’s Day competition is… Elizabeth Hutchinson! Congratulations to Elizabeth for winning with her entry that showed thought and imagination, and than you to all of you who liked and shared to enter! 🙂
Valentine, Be Mine!!
I know we’re still in January (and it seems to be going on forever!) but I thought it would be a good time to set a little competition to win a lovely heart pendant and chain for your beloved, or a special friend that deserves a boost! Like, share and tag the person you think should win, and comment why you think they deserve the treat? The winner will be announced on February 7th, Good luck!! 🙂
I’m Taking Part in The London Marathon!
I know! Who would have thought that this fat old woman would be doing such a bonkers thing?? Not me, that’s for sure! It all began last year when I was watching the marathon as usual, in awe and full of respect for all those brilliant runners and the thousands of dedicated fundraisers, and it’s something I’ve always had a secret desire to do. So I entered (in a moment of insanity!) and downloaded the running app “couch to 5k” not thinking I would get a place, well now it’s getting a bit real because I have a place to run for The Brooke which is a charity close to my heart! They provide free veterinary care and education on how to look after working horses, donkeys and mules in the poorest places on earth where they rely solely on their animals to support families. Their work is vital to the welfare of these hard working equines, and anything I can do to support them is a privilege! I have a JustGiving fundraising page that is live now, and if any of you lovely people would like to support me I would be incredibly grateful for however much you can spare! (And don’t forget to tick the gift aid box to maximise your donation!) The link to my page is https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/jackey-phillips3 and I would like to thank you in advance if you are able to support me!
Amber Awesomeness!
A lucky lady found this delicious piece of butterscotch amber on a local beach and brought it in to be turned into a pendant for her. She had a much smaller piece made into a ring some time ago, and decided to have a matching pendant even though the colours of amber did not match. This lovely butterscotch amber is the more commonly found colour on our Suffolk beaches, with the gorgeous creamy colour being due to microscopic air bubbles trapped in the fossilized resin. Every piece of amber is unique, (even more so if you manage to find it yourself!!) with this colour you can often see what look like storms trapped in permanent stillness, prehistoric air swirling forever.
Puppy Love!
I loved making this bracelet! Any of you who know me will know that I have a love of all animals, and my beloved Trumpton was a constant companion and regularly to be seen (and admired!) in the shop over the years before he sadly passed a couple of years ago at a ripe old age. This bracelet was made for a family to give to their relative that wanted to commemorate the dogs she had lost over the years, so we made little discs with a paw print, the dog’s personal birthstone and their name engraved on the reverse. The family also wanted a personal message to be engraved on the reverse of a heart for her, and for it to be tough and hardy to wear every day. The result is pawfect!
New Year, New Engagement!
Now that the festive season is behind us, I am able to post some of the bespoke pieces that have been made in our workshop recently, and that I have been keeping secret just in case I spoilt a surprise! This lovely ring was made for a young man who wanted to pop the question to his prospective bride. He had a few ideas as to design, he knew that it had to be a lower flush setting that would allow her to wear it at work without it catching or getting in the way, and he knew she would like white gold and something possibly interwoven. I came up with some drawings and he chose the design, and this was the result! And she said yes, of course!
And a Happy New Year!
Jackey, Carol and Annie (and Womble obviously!!) would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We look forward to welcoming you all in 2020!!
Merry Christmas…..
Merry Christmas to you all! I hope you enjoy a peaceful, restful, healthy and happy time with family and friends and those you love. And if you can’t be with them for whatever reason, I hope they are close in your thoughts and hearts. Jackey x
Opening Times!
We are open today (Christmas Eve) until 4pm, we will then be closing for our annual holidays until January 2nd when we will open at 9am as usual. I would like to thank all you lovely customers for your support this year, it’s much appreciated! Jackey x
Christmas Star!
What a stunner, sadly with my usual bad photography!! This gorgeous star sapphire is set in white gold with the added twinkle of sparkling diamonds to complete the look. The star (which is very badly photographed!) is a natural phenomenon that happens when the crystal is forming, and because of the alignment of internal inclusions a six ray star is formed. The sapphire is cut en cabochon to make the most of the star effect, and at a whopping 15.56ct it’s a bit of a show stopper! You have to see it to appreciate it fully 😉
Seriously Serious Rock!
This is a real wow ring! Not only is this white gold ring a handmade piece, the main attraction is one of the rarer gemstones called Kunzite which displays sparkling pink with a hint of purple so subtle it’s sublime, and to top it off it is a HUGE 29.40ct! I designed this ring with a nod to the Art Deco period, when style and quality was everything, and added some diamonds for that little je ne sais quoi. This really is the business if you want to turn all heads at Christmas!
This Opal Dazzles!!
Oh. My. Actual. Goodness! What can I say about this beautiful opal? This 2.25ct stunner has all the colours of the rainbow that flash fire at you from every direction (but I am rubbish at catching it in a picture!) It displays red, blue, green, yellow, orange and all the colours in between, all set in luxurious platinum and surrounded by 0.50ct of quality diamonds. I am very proud of this ring fresh out of the workshop to my design, you may have seen the pictures I posted earlier in the year when I bought all the loose stones? I was excited to create something that would do the opal justice and couldn’t wait to see how this beauty would set, I’m not disappointed! Nature is such an amazing artist, I count myself lucky to be able to create something unique, vibrant and truly beautiful using her gift. Love my job!!
Add Some Bling for Christmas!
Is there a better time than Christmas to put on the bling? Here at Jackey L in Saxmundham High Street we have all the bling you could possibly need!! We have diamonds, lovely diamonds! If you feel like a splash of colour then we have all the well known and loved gems like the ruby and sapphire pictured, as well as some more unusual and rare gems like kunzite and watermelon tourmaline. If you’d prefer, we have a huge stock of silver bling in modern and interesting designs that will keep you sparkling through the festive season, and beyond! Come and take a look?
The Ultimate Personal Touch!
New for this Christmas this year, we have the lovely Keepsake Collection, a fabulous idea if you want to add a special touch to your gift this Christmas! Just take one of the many choices available, and add something unique and personal! A pendant with a message in your own handwriting, a ring with your fingerprint, a keyring with your child’s first drawing, a bracelet with your child’s hand or footprint? What about your pet’s paw or nose print? The list is endless, just add imagination and give them something they truly will treasure!
It’s beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas….
I know, I know! I usually confine Christmas to December (even though I would have it sparkly all year round if allowed!) but I needed to remind you that we are here on the High Street for all your jewellery needs, before everyone goes on the interweb! We have a huge selection of jewellery, including the tiny snippet of silver and cz pieces pictured, and starting from just a few pounds! Not forgetting all the gifts in store, cufflinks and hip flasks, picture frames and pretty money boxes, and our range of watches from leading names Lorus and Citizen, and our new ultra stylish range Festina! Come in and give us a look? 😉
Special Stone
Grandad took his young charge to the seaside to eat ice cream and skip stones across the water together. While he was there young Charlie sought out his favourite stone to take home to ask his Nanny Jack to make it into something for mummy. I barrel polished the stone to a shine and fitted it in a silver mount, and the special gift was given!
Stunning Sea Glass
This whopper of a piece of lovely sea glass was brought in to the shop to be made into a pendant. Sea glass is naturally worn to a frosty finish which looks so attractive with silver, the design was kept simple. Less is more!
Sentimental “Nuggety” Overload!
A lovely young lady came in to the shop with her grandpa’s wedding ring held tightly in her hand, she wanted to make something from it that she could wear all the time as he had sadly passed recently. She hardly ever wore jewellery so was unsure of what she wanted, but she knew it had to be discreet and understated. We came up with a few ideas and she loved the idea of a couple of different sized discs as a necklace, but really wanted it to have a “nuggety” look! She liked the thought of the gold showing texture and looking natural, so I worked with the ring to make two “nuggets” of different sizes then joined them so they can be worn on a chain. She loved the final result, and can now carry a little bit of her grandpa with her wherever she goes.
To Treasure on the Wrist!!
Remember that pile of scrap gold?? All the broken chains, single earrings and worn out rings were transformed into this beautiful solid bangle with the rescued opal and tiny diamond accent taking pride of place front and centre! A very satisfying job to complete, and one very happy customer with something she will wear and treasure! Do you have broken bits and bobs sitting doing nothing? Maybe you could plan your own “upcycle”???
Scrap in the Attic???
A customer brought in all her old, broken and unwanted gold to have something made that she would wear and love. Lots of broken chains, single earrings, rings that have been worn out and with stones missing was transformed into a lovely solid bangle with an opal and tiny diamond that could be salvaged from the rings. This is the before, wait for the after!!
Whimsical Wonder!
This fabulous ring was designed and made by hand in our workshop from a customers old engagement, eternity and wedding rings! She was tired of the traditional solitaire diamond ring and the way that whenever she looked it was twisted round and under her finger, she also decided that she would like some rose gold along with white gold to complement her other jewellery that she wears. Most of all, what she had was not really her style, she wanted something “whimsical”! I came up with the designs for her to choose between and once everything was settled on we made her whimsical dream come true! The finished ring is impressive yet dainty, very attractive and totally unique! Do you have some old jewellery you don’t like or wear? Why not change it in to something you love?!?
Super Sapphire!
Fresh out of the workshop! This gorgeous handmade ring features a stunning blue sapphire that weighs in at over 1ct and is surrounded by over 3/4ct of beautiful marquise shaped diamonds clustered around the central stone and down the shoulders, but not in the boring old way! As usual I have not been able to capture the best of these beautiful gemstones in my picture, but any of you lovely people who would like a look will be knocked out by the real life sparkle! It’s so “hot off the press” I haven’t even priced it up yet, who fancies a one of a kind stunner??
Widow’s Ring
A widow came to us and asked for her husband’s wedding ring to be made in to something that she can wear all the time, to keep him close always. We used his wedding band and combined it with hers, added some black diamonds to the white ones she had in her band and set them alternating and flush to the ring so that it will be easy and comfortable to wear. She loved the simplicity of design and felt that it allows her to carry him forward with her. Such a simple and heartfelt way of expressing her feelings of love and loss, while at the same time celebrating their life together and remembering happy times.
And There’s More!!
As I said, I’ve got carried away and bought some absolute stunners to get creative with! I tried to take a good picture, but this is the best I could manage, suffice to say they are just awesome in real life!! Pictured from left to right is a lush green Spodumene weighing in at a whopping 22.3ct! This beautiful gemstone is flawless and such a beautiful colour, unfortunately I seem to have got fingerprints all over it!! 😉 The other green gemstone is a 1.75ct green tourmaline in a rectangular “step cut”, a very sophisticated gemstone indeed! The pair of stunners at the front are tanzanite, 1.63ct of AAAA tanzanite to be exact! And last but definitely not least is the huge 29.4ct cushion cut Kunzite, such a beautifully delicate shade of pink with the tiniest hint of purple, just dreamy!!
Opulent Opal!!
I’ve only gone and done it again!! I have bought some gorgeous loose gemstones to get creative and make some more stock up for the shop! This picture is of a stunning 2.25ct natural opal that displays a glorious show of colours, from blue and green, yellow and orange and flashes of red. It’s just like watching electricity, what a beaut!! Now, what to make??? 😉
Adoring Amethyst
This beautiful delicate pendant was made for a lovely lady in memorial to her beloved dog who she had recently lost, she wanted a heart shaped stone for obvious reasons, and amethyst had to feature heavily as it was his birthstone. We came up with a design to add some twinkle of diamond to the piece, and I’m happy to say she was overjoyed with the result! So much so that she decided to have some earrings made to make up a set to wear always to remember him by. Watch this space!
Eternal Heirloom!
This gorgeous full eternity ring came to me in a pretty poor way, it was missing nearly all the stones and had snapped through one of the settings because someone had stepped on it! The owner was planning on giving it to her daughter to celebrate a special birthday, so they came in together and we worked out what would look good and work well for her. After a little (ok, quite a lot!) of TLC it is back to it’s former glory with a new lease of life, set with alternating diamonds and emeralds all the way round, with safe and repaired settings and a lovely polish to complete the refurbishment! You wouldn’t know it was the same piece 😉
Jackey L 1, Internet 0!
A lovely young man came to the shop wanting me to make him an engagement ring for his beautiful fiancé. He had seen exactly what he wanted on the internet and showed me a picture, I knew we could make the pretty white gold setting with rich rose gold shank, and it was set with a three quarter carat diamond. I managed to source a gorgeous brilliant cut diamond with certificate to guarantee it’s quality (which was better than the quality of the internet one!) and it was a whopping 0.91ct, so bigger than the internet one! Best of all, I managed to make it for less than the internet one too! It doesn’t always happen that I can beat the price of a mass produced item, but if you give me a chance I will always give it a go and do my best! On this occasion it was Jackey L-1, internet-0!!! 😉
Alexandrite Update
If only I could do this beautiful gemstone justice in the picture! Alexandrite is a colour change gemstone that in daylight and artificial light shows a different colour, in very rare cases the change is from traffic light red to traffic light green! These gems can command incredible prices for such a vivid and complete change, but you can get Alexandrite with a much more subtle change in colour (and some TV shopping channels sell it with none, or hardly a change at all!) The one in the picture is a really good quality stone that demonstrates a definite and beautiful change in colour, albeit not perfect but superb nonetheless. We have just finished a full refurb of the ring including new claws to hold this precious gemstone safely for years to come!
Blue Hue!
A few more coloured gemstone rings from stock, gorgeous Tanzanite, stunning London Blue Topaz and lovely Amethyst all paired with awesome diamonds!
Watermelon Tourmaline :-)
This lovely ring was made in our workshop from a very unusual stone cut in a very unusual way! The tourmaline itself has very subtle colour graduation from pink to green, and it is cut with curved ends. Someone has snapped this up before I could get it on the website, but I wanted to show everyone anyway!
The Big Four!
I have just been taking some pictures of rings we have in stock for an advertising feature related to the increased interest in coloured gemstone engagement rings. Shown are ruby, sapphire and emerald together with diamonds. These beautiful gemstones are often referred to as “the big four” as they are the most popular and have properties so well suited to jewellery.
Love Paws!
Back in stock are these lovely little heart shaped earrings sporting a pawprint for all you lovers of fur babies! They are sterling silver, and priced at £17.
Garnet Galore!
We made this lovely ring recently for a young lady with a January birthday, using a really unusual barrel cut garnet. I love to choose unusual things to make and for the shop, this can mean rare and different gemstones as well as the cut of the gem. For any eagle eyed readers (you can see some fluff and flecks) I took this picture before the final polish!
Something a Little Different! And Back in Stock!
I’m sure you have seen these type of earrings around lately? They are called ear climbers, and have been worn by such luminaries as Meghan Markle, Emma Watson and Jennifer Lawrence. Time for you to give it a try? These beautiful silver star climbers have a bit of a twinkle and cost £22 🙂
Old Friend!
This lovely garnet ring just came to say hello! We made it for a customer some years ago, before I started taking pictures of our work and posting them on the website. I prized it away for a quick clean and photo! Good to see that it is still in good shape and she is still enjoying her unique creation every day!
Happy Valentine!
This beautiful 18ct white gold ruby and diamond heart will make anyone smile, a Valentine to remember!
Romance is in The Air!
February, and in particular Valentine’s Day, is often a romantic time to propose. We have a great selection of all kinds of diamond rings, including fancy colour diamonds! Just pop in and have a chat about what you have in mind, and if we don’t have it in stock we can get it!
Amethyst for February
The birthstone for February is the beautiful rich purple amethyst, in this picture the cabochon amethyst drops have an enamelled disc, all handmade and with a matching necklace!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your patience, I hope the work has not disrupted too many lives, and we look forward to seeing everyone just in time to get their Valentine’s Day gifts!

Magnificent Morganite!
Another stunner from our workshop, this beautiful peachy pink chequerboard cut morganite set in white gold is enough to make you starry eyed! Add some diamonds in for good measure, and it’s simply perfect!
Tantalising Tanzanite!
This stunner was handmade in our workshop using 18ct white gold and dazzling diamonds to set off the stunning trilliant cut tanzanite. If you would like something truly unique to you we would love to make your dream a reality!
Dotty About The Ring!
This fab ring was made from an old impractical piece of jewellery that the customer never wore, we studded a chunky gold band with the rubies and now she has something to enjoy wearing instead of something gathering dust in a draw!
And a Happy New Year!
We will be opening limited hours between Christmas and New Year. Thursday 27th, open 10am-2pm, and Saturday 29th 10am-2pm, apart from those times we will be closed, opening as normal on January 2nd 2019! Thank you , once again, we look forward to seeing you in the New Year! Today’s picture is of the other pink diamonds I couldn’t resist! Pink diamonds are some of the rarest gems in the world, and these rings have been handmade in our workshop in 18ct white and rose gold, if you want something truly unique you cannot get more so than these!!
Merry Christmas!!

We very much hope that you all have a wonderful Christmas, and a Happy New Year from us all here at Jackey L! Seasons greetings from Jackey, Carol and Annie, and not forgetting Womble of course!!
